Treatments that rebuild your own collagen, using your own blood or collagen stimulating injectables
Regenerative aesthetics is a category of treatment that stimulates your body to produce its own collagen rather than adding a synthetic product to fill space. At Derma Theory, that includes EZ Gel, PRF, PRP, Sculptra, and Radiesse, along with the microneedling treatments that support them.
Most aesthetic treatments add something to the face. Regenerative treatments ask the face to rebuild. That distinction matters more as you get older, because volume alone stops being the problem and skin quality becomes the thing people actually notice.
Who Regenerative Treatments Are For
This is usually the right direction for someone in their thirties, forties, or fifties who is starting to see thinning under the eyes, a loss of firmness, or a change in skin texture, and who wants their skin to look better rather than simply fuller.
It also suits patients who have been hesitant about traditional filler. If the results you have seen on other people looked heavier than what you want, treatments made from your own blood are a reasonable place to start, because there is no synthetic product involved.
It is less suited to someone who wants an immediate, visible change for an event next week. Regenerative results build over weeks and months. That is the trade you are making, and it is worth understanding before you book rather than after.

The PRF Facial is a separate service using liquid PRF across the whole face including the under eye area, at $1,000 per session or $2,700 for a series of three, with treatments spaced four weeks apart. Details are on The PRF Facial page.
The Treatments
EZ Gel
EZ Gel is a filler made from your own blood. We draw a small sample and spin it down to concentrate the platelet rich fibrin, then take that concentrate through a controlled heating and cooling process that transforms it from a liquid into a gel. That gel restores volume and improves the quality of the skin it sits under. There is no synthetic product involved.
PRF and PRP
PRF (platelet rich fibrin) and PRP (platelet rich plasma) are both concentrated from your own blood and injected in liquid form. Research on PRF has measured sustained release of growth factors over roughly a ten day window following treatment, which is the mechanism behind the gradual collagen response (Kobayashi and colleagues, Clinical Oral Investigations, 2016). We use them under the eyes, in the scalp and hairline for hair restoration, and across the face for overall skin quality.
Sculptra and Radiesse
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid and Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite. Neither is a traditional filler. Both act as a scaffold that your body responds to by producing collagen, and both build gradually over a series of sessions. Sculptra is also used on the neck and décolleté. Radiesse is also used on the neck, hands, elbows, and knees.

Regen 360
Regen 360 is our sequenced plan rather than a single treatment. It combines regenerative treatments in an order built around your skin over a defined period, which is generally how these treatments produce their best work. Most patients get more from a plan than from one session of anything.
Microneedling
Microneedling with SkinPen, an FDA cleared microneedling device, creates controlled microchannels in the skin that stimulate collagen and elastin production. It pairs well with the injectable regenerative treatments and is often used alongside them.
How These Treatments Work Together
Very few patients need only one of these, and the ordering matters.
Collagen stimulating injectables such as Sculptra and Radiesse address the deeper structural change. Blood derived treatments such as PRF and EZ Gel address skin quality and the thinner, more delicate areas where synthetic filler is a harder decision. Microneedling supports both from the surface.
Which combination is right for you depends on your skin, your age, and what you want your face to do over the next five years. That is the conversation a consultation is for, and it is why we assess the whole face rather than the area you came in thinking about.
What to Expect
Most regenerative treatments at our Houston clinic take under an hour. Blood derived treatments start with a small blood draw in the room, which is processed while you wait.
Downtime is no to minimal. Some swelling or bruising is common, typically for 24 to 48 hours with liquid PRF and for three to five days with EZ Gel.
Results build rather than appear. Most patients begin to see change over the weeks following treatment, and a series is commonly recommended for the fullest effect. Results vary between individuals.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is regenerative aesthetics?
Regenerative aesthetics uses treatments that stimulate your body’s own collagen production rather than adding a synthetic product. The category includes treatments made from your own blood, such as PRF, PRP, and EZ Gel, and collagen stimulating injectables such as Sculptra and Radiesse.
Is EZ Gel the same as filler?
No. Traditional filler is a synthetic hyaluronic acid gel that adds volume immediately where it is placed. EZ Gel is made from your own blood and works by adding support while releasing growth factors that stimulate your own collagen over the weeks and months that follow. Many patients use both, in different areas.
Which regenerative treatment is right for me?
It depends on the area and the concern. Under eye hollowing and skin quality generally point toward EZ Gel or PRF. Broader loss of firmness across the cheeks and temples generally points toward Sculptra or Radiesse. Most treatment plans use more than one, which is what Regen 360 is built around. A consultation is the only reliable way to answer this for your face.
How long do regenerative results last?
EZ Gel commonly lasts several months, and a series of sessions is often recommended. PRF builds over months with maintenance sessions commonly recommended. Collagen stimulating injectables such as Sculptra and Radiesse build over a series and are longer lasting. Results vary between individuals.
Do regenerative treatments hurt?
Discomfort is generally comparable to other injectable treatments and is managed with topical numbing. Blood derived treatments include a standard blood draw at the start of the appointment.
How much do regenerative treatments cost in Houston?
At Derma Theory, EZ Gel is $800 for one area and $2,200 for three sessions on one area. PRF and PRP are $500 per session and $1,300 for three. The PRF Facial is $1,000 per session and $2,700 for three. Sculptra and Radiesse pricing is listed on their own page.
Who is not a candidate for EZ Gel or PRF?
Blood derived treatments are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for anyone with an active infection, or for anyone with a blood disorder. We screen for all of these at consultation before any treatment is planned. If you are unsure whether something in your history rules you out, bring it up and we will tell you plainly.
Can I combine regenerative treatments with Botox or filler?
Yes, and most patients do. Neuromodulators, hyaluronic acid filler, and regenerative treatments do different jobs, and combining them thoughtfully is generally more effective than choosing one category and ignoring the others.
Book a Consultation
Regenerative treatment plans are built individually, and the first step is an in-depth consultation where we assess your whole face and talk through the options honestly, including the ones we do not think you need.
